“Dr. Anderson is wonderful! She has a passion for dental and is very detailed in her care for your smile. She along with her staff have beautiful personalities and want the best for you. I highly recommend Smile Sculptures of WF.”
As a teen, Dr. Anderson had acne, big glasses, and braces. She remembers the day they came off. While visiting her grandmother, she ran down the hall to a big mirror, smiled, and admired her straight teeth for the first time. At that moment, she knew she wanted to be a dentist.
After graduating as her class’s valedictorian in high school, she headed off to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her sophomore year, she met a third-year dental student who told her that the best students in her dental classes were dental hygienists prior to entering dental school. Dr. Anderson immediately registered for the dental hygiene program at UNC and applied for a job as an assistant in the University’s Pediatric Dentistry Department.
She was hired for the job, accepted into the dental hygiene program, and went on to earn her degree in dental hygiene. Following graduation, she began working as a dental hygienist as she prepared to apply for dental school.
Dr. Anderson earned a full scholarship to attend the UNC – Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where she earned her doctorate degree in dental surgery. While in dental school, she provided dental screenings, cleanings, and fillings to underprivileged populations in addition to her coursework and patient load. She also volunteered to make mouthguards for elementary and middle school athletes on sports teams in her spare time.
Dr. Anderson worked with the Department of Veteran Affairs after dental school to gain additional training in anesthesia, internal medicine, and additional surgeries. She also devotes her time to various continuing education courses focused on cosmetic and restorative practices, implantology, orthodontics, and periodontics.
She has over a decade of experience in private practice and continues to be involved in community events within the Triangle such as serving on free dental buses and speaking engagements. Dr. Anderson is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and serves on the Victorious Community Development Corporation and the Miller Mount Advisory board.
Beyond serving patients, she never misses an opportunity to swim, ever! (Shout out to Zygo!) She is a theater-going, musical-loving, activity-creating, organizational queen who loves to laugh. As a creator, she loves garden art, decorating, designing structures, and artistry in cooking/serving. Staying healthy (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) is a high priority. And she absolutely loves her dogs!
